Sea Change
DCMS has announced a new programme of funding
Seachange which will kick start economic regeneration in coastal areas through investment in culture and heritage. The programme will give £45 million nationally over 3 years. In the South East Dover will benefit with up to £4million for cultural and heritage projects. Please see the DCMS website for further details.
Local Area Agreements (LAAs) and the LAA Toolkit
We are currently negotiating the inclusion of cultural/sporting objectives and targets in the LAAs. The Local Area Agreement Culture and Sport toolkit (
LAA toolkit) has been developed to help Local Authorities to embed culture and sport within LAAs as national indicators in their own right and to promote the role that culture and sport can play as a cross cutter assisting with a range of agendas from reducing obesity to creating stronger communities.
Support for London’s 2012 games
GOSE is involved in the Culture and Communities Sub group which is responsible for driving the
Cultural Olympiad, the programme of cultural activity which will accompany the 4 year build up to the 2012 games. Included in this programme is "Create Compete Collaborate" the project to ensure that all young people have the chance to create or compete or collaborate with another young person from a different country during the run up to the 2012 games.
Regional Improvement and Efficiency Agenda
GOSE is involved in supporting the work of the South East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (SEI&EP), and aims to ensure that locally delivered services for culture and sport are efficient and effective through this process. A regional conference will be held in June 2008 to further develop this work. For more information on partnerships and the South East Improvement and Efficiency Strategy, please see the SEI&EP website.
