Minister for the South East, Jonathan Shaw, is particularly keen to bring a regional flavour to the national deliberations and to make sure that the concerns of those living and working in the South East are understood when decisions are made about where the Government should focus attention when preparing new legislation.
As well as urging those who live and work in the South East to respond to the consultation, he is hosting a number of events with different groups in the region during the consultation process. He has already met with representatives from a number of local authorities and regional partners. The following events will also be taking place in July:
- 11 July 2008 – Reading: Interactive consultation event with young people
Innovation Centre, 5th Floor, Northgate House, 21-23 Valpy Street, Reading RG1 1AR
This event hosted by Jonathan Shaw MP is for young people from the region to hear about the Government's plans for the future and discuss the parts of the Draft Legislative Programme which affect them. There will be interactive voting sessions, market place discussions and group working based around the key themes of the Draft Legislative Programme.

- 14 July 2008 – London: South East Regional Consultation Event on the Draft Legislative Programme and Community Empowerment White Paper

An open meeting hosted by Jonathan Shaw MP with a range of people from across the region. Particular focus on the views of business, the voluntary and community sector and members of the public with an interest on both the Draft Legislative Programme and the Community Empowerment White Paper.
