GOSE provides expert knowledge and understanding of the region to central government and ensures that the policies of Whitehall are delivered effectively at a local level.
Rolande will hand over the Regional Director role to Colin Byrne, a senior civil servant currently overseeing the development of Home Information Packs at the Department for Local Government and Communities in London.
Commenting on his new role, Colin said:
"I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the Government Office for the South East. Having previously worked in the area I know the key challenges of the region and I am also excited at the prospect of once again working with a highly competent team of colleagues within the Office and stakeholder organisations from across the South East."
Since joining GOSE in January 2006, Rolande Anderson has been deeply involved in the key policy areas of Housing and Planning. She has been the national lead on these issues with other Whitehall departments and has built close links between policy and delivery on the ground. She has also been critical to modernising the Network itself, having championed transformation strategies on People and Communications.
Reflecting on her time at GOSE, Rolande said;
"It has been an exciting time for me, working in this varied, complex and always enterprising Region. I have greatly valued the quality of our relationship with our many partners across the South East - it is a place where people really make things happen together"
